Online language learning, taking it out of the CD-ROM era, using community-based approach:

  • Instructional content
  • Tools and exercises with help of native speakers all over the work
  • Motivational framework

“Emergent” approach to language via inference between text, sound and pictures. And the community can also augment the content (not sure how this is regulated). Running through a series of different exercises.

Also has a live chat client with video, that also has a phrase piece to it to prompt you when your memory fails you.

Motivation piece: Tells you what you need to complete, what you’ve fallen behind on, there’s also a leaderboard, and an activity tab that you can use to keep an eye on your friends, etc. Way cool, and I need to bone up on my French!
