Had an amazing meeting with Bryan Jones of Moximity today, which was extra awesome because it may result in reconnecting with an old childhood friend;) Anyway, definitely keep an eye on these guys, they’re up to big things in the location-aware arena, and they’re totally going to sneak up on the Whrrls and Loopts of the world — faster than you can say iFund;) Thanks too to John Erik and Bryan Menell for putting us in touch!

Very interesting…Intel has pulled together a group of A-list social media influencers to construct a sort of hybrid advisory board + evangelist group. I’m a BIG fan of advisory boards (provided they actually advise, hehe), but it will be interesting to see what kind of results this group does or does not produce for Intel. Several members have already posted on their first meeting and the content discussed therein, giving Intel a nice bump in traffic and some high-level visibility among a few of the Valley’s biggest movers and shakers.
But what will be more interesting to see is a.) whether these influencers have any long-term effect on Intel’s digital strategy, and b.) whether there is any kind of backlash around the ad-hoc evangelism piece (Macbook Airs notwithstanding.) Still, I’m impressed that Intel had the wherewithal to enlist subject matter experts in their attempt to revamp their Web presence and interactive strategy.
These are really awesome. Found this while looking around and researching pop culture articulations of AI over the years…
P.S. you should also join my “Representations of AI in Popular Culture” Twine;)
Join my new HST Twine and contribute! I’m doing an umteenth round of research for my screenplay and hoping that this will help with adding some new ideas/context, etc.
Via Mat Honan, this is freakin’ hilarious.
Awesome piece on where semantic search is headed by Carla Thompson. Manages to be both bullish on the blue ocean opportunity aspect, while still accurately adressing the current state of the market and near-term expectations. And a good summary of some of the cool startups that are innovating here — several of which, like True Knowledge, SementiNet, and Silobreaker — aren’t getting nearly as much attention as they should. Also, props to Powerset’s iPhone site, it 100% rocks, if you haven’t tried it out yet.
Allen Stern reporting live from Supernova on what makes conferences great — and how to continue the discussion and sense of community — the social density — long afterwards. Wish I was there! Last year’s show was awesome.
Louis has an awesome writeup of OneSpot — Congrats to Matt, Sarah, Mason, Steve and team!
A really cool multi-part feature — what I’ve read so far is great.
